Modernizing Enterprise Data

Challenge

A state government customer relied on an enterprise data warehouse that supported important reporting and operational needs. Over time, the environment had become harder to maintain. Data moved through a mix of legacy processes, business rules were spread across multiple jobs, and adding new reporting needs required more effort than the customer wanted.

The customer did not want a disruptive replacement. Daily reporting still had to run, and the technical team needed a practical path forward that preserved what was working while improving the platform.

Solution

Our team began by learning how the existing warehouse supported the business. We reviewed data flows, transformation logic, source systems, reporting dependencies, and the needs of the people who relied on the data. That early work helped us separate genuine business requirements from technical complexity that had accumulated over time.

We then modernized the environment in phases. Reusable Azure Data Factory pipelines replaced manual and inconsistent processes. Data models were refined to support clearer reporting. Validation was built into the delivery process so changes could be tested before they reached production.

We also worked with the customer to improve metadata, lineage, and governance. This made it easier for technical teams to understand where data came from, how it changed, and how it was used.
